Gambang: The gamelan wooden xylophone

This work investigated the ironwood used to construct a gambang, which is traditional musical instrument. A gambang constructed from wooden bar with similar thickness and width but different length. The sound established frequencies were compared equal tempered scale. peak differed intended pitch partials not always harmonic. only classified 4 octaves. audio classification of was based on signal processing using Picoscope oscilloscope. article explains how wood transformed into instruments. findings revealed that aspect value keyboard instruments desired pitch. third octave notes created C5, E5, G5, A5 instead D5, A5, while fourth produced C6, D6, E6, G6, A6# A6. Only octaves exhibited nearly flawless tuning for gambang.
